Janelle Peck, Licensed Educational Psychologist, has joined the Del Valle Clinic to complete psycho-educational assessments. Janelle is a proud alumna of Sacramento State’s graduate NASP approved program in School Psychology.  She has been working in education as a School Psychologist or Intern Psychologist for the Livermore Schools for the last 12 school years. During the last decade with Livermore she has worked with a variety of special education programs ranging in age from pre-school through high school.

Janelle’s professional interests include: reading instruction and assessment, neuropsychology (specific to learning and ADHD) and academic intervention programs. Her graduate training focused intensely on conducting comprehensive assessments including: cognitive assessment, academic assessment, behavior assessment and social/emotional assessment.  Additionally, she has pursued training and certification in Autism specific assessment tools. For the last five years she has taught graduate courses on cognition (introduction to cognitive assessment) to the School Psychology students at California State University East Bay.

Janelle prides herself on her knowledge of special education law. In 2012 Janelle was hired to complete a special assignment as an independent contractor for Livermore. She was responsible for training teachers and the special education staff as part of a California special education legal compliance review. This allowed Janelle to refine her knowledge of special education law, which has given her insight into how to best help families navigate the educational system. Through these experiences Janelle has been able to work with various school teams across the region. She discovered that she has a passion for helping parents and districts to work together to determine and identify the best placement and services for their students. Janelle remains active in the professional organizations NASP and CASP and she attends professional development and updated training annually.

At the DVC Janelle conducts psycho-educational assessments. Psycho educational assessments include the assessment of: learning related issues, specific learning disabilities, childhood developmental disorders and associated academic issues. Assessments are done for: diagnostic purposes, to help in planning or in developing a better understanding how a child learns, the determination of special education or 504 eligibility, and to develop recommendations for needed academic or school related services.
